How to Beat Dreadcoil in the Snake Pit

Dreadcoil punishes a hero who stands still. Read the lane, move out of the sweep, and keep poison off your path.

A contender faces the serpent Dreadcoil in the Snake Pit

Three attacks, three different answers

Dreadcoil has three core attacks: a straight-line Coil Charge, a spread of venom globs, and a long Tail Sweep. The Snake Pit is cramped and can leave poison on the floor, so the fight is about reading space as much as dealing damage.

The best habit is to keep moving with a route in mind. Avoid running into a wall or poison patch while you are trying to escape the next attack.

Step sideways when the Coil Charge lines up

From more than four meters away, Dreadcoil lines up a telegraphed lane as wide as its body, then charges straight through the fight. The danger is staying on that lane while the wind-up finishes.

As soon as the lane appears, move perpendicular to it. A sideways dodge clears the charge path more reliably than retreating straight away from the serpent.

Keep changing direction through the venom spread

Dreadcoil spits three venom globs in a spread across your path, or five when enraged. Each glob leaves poison on the floor for four and a half seconds.

Do not keep running in the same line once the glob pattern starts. Change direction, leave the poison behind, and avoid cutting through a puddle just to reach the boss sooner.

Leave the Tail Sweep warning line

The Tail Sweep has a warning line ten meters long and 2.2 meters wide before the tail lands along it. Move out of that marked strip before attacking again.

Use the brief space after a charge or sweep to get a few hits in, then return to moving. The Dreadcoil is easier to manage when every dodge ends somewhere safe instead of in poison.
